NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) 2019 is a National Level Examination conducted by NCERT (National Council of Education Research and Training) to provide the scholarship to the deserving candidates. This exam is for secondary school level to identify and recognize students with high intellect and skills. The examination is conducted every year at 2 levels: Stage 1 (State level) and Stage 2 (National level).

NTSE 2019 Exam Dates
NTSE 2019 stage 1 will schedule to be conducted on November 03, 2018. Interested candidates can apply from Second week of September 2018. The NTSE exam schedule is given below:

NTSE 2019 EligibilityThere are certain criteria laid out by CBSE that one should keep in mind before applying for the exam. NTSE Eligibility Criteria for each stage differs. The detailed criteria are provided below.

NTSE 2019 Application FormCandidates can fill application form through both the online and offline modes. Application form will be distributed separately by different states. Last date of application submission also varies from state to state.
NTSE Eligibility Criteria (Stage 1)
- Candidates must be an Indian national.
- Class X students can also apply for Stage 1.
- A minimum of 60% marks Class IX is required. SC, ST and PH candidates will need 55% marks in Class IX.
- Candidate must be studying in a recognized school in their respective State or Union Territory.
- Those who are registered in Open Distance Learning (ODL) program will also be considered eligible if they are below 18 years of age (as on July 1, 2018) and are not employed when they appear for Class X exam.
- Candidates will need 80% marks or above in the State level exam, to be considered eligible.
- Every student who secures the minimum required marks in Stage II will be eligible for the scholarship program.
NTSE Reservation Criteria
- 15% for students belonging to SC category.
- 7.5% for students belonging to ST category.
- 4%for Physically Challenged group of students, with benchmark disabilities of which – 1% each will be reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities under clauses –
- Blindness and low vision
- Deaf and hard of hearing
- Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy.
- 1% for persons with benchmark disabilities under clauses
- Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness.
- Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses in the posts identified for each disabilities.
NTSE 2019 Application FormCandidates can fill application form through both the online and offline modes. Application form will be distributed separately by different states. Last date of application submission also varies from state to state.
- Some general guidelines regarding the form filling process are as discussed below.
- If downloading, then while taking the printout use legal 8.5” * 14” size paper.
- Application form available online or with State/ UT liaison officer is only applicable for Stage 1 exam.
- Candidates have to pay the application fee as prescribed by their respective State/UT.
- While filling NTSE 2019 Application Form candidates or the principle have to leave the 4-digit center code blank, this has to be filled by the liaison officer or concerned district officer or center superintendent.
How to fill NTSE Form?
The process of form filling is different for Indian students who are studying in their home country and Indian students studying abroad. The details are provided below.

- Candidates must download the application form available on the official NCERT website.
- After filling in all fields, the applicant must get the form signed by the principal of his school.
- Then the application form must be submitted to the State Liaison Officer before the last date of submission.
- Such candidates can directly apply for Stage 2 of NTSE exam.
- The application form will have to be downloaded from the website.
- The duly filled in application must be sent with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous exam to the following address:

NTSE 2019 Admit Card
The admit card for NTSE will be made available by the authorities according to the official schedule. It will contain important information such as candidate’s name, candidate’s roll number, exam date and timing as well as exam center address.

- NTSE admit cards for Stage 1 will be sent by post to candidate’s address, as specified in the application form.
- In case the admit card is not received, candidates can visit the office of Chief Superintendent to obtain their hall ticket.
- The admit card for NTSE Stage 2 will be available on the official NCERT website a week before the date of the exam.
- Candidates must download their respective hall tickets from the website.
- Valid photo ID in original and a photocopy of the same
- Any one of these will be accepted for Photo Identification purposes:

- NTSE 2019 examination is conducted in various states.
- At the time of filling application form, students have to select the particular exam center.
- Once the application form is successfully submitted students can check the name of examination center on the admit card.

NTSE 2019 Exam Pattern
The exam is conducted in two stages i.e. Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 examination is conducted at state level by the state authorities. Stage 2 examination is conducted at all other states and union territories. The paper is available in both the Hindi and English medium. Students need to select any one language from both the languages. The paper is divided into two sections i.e. Mental Ability Test (MAT), and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).

- The paper is comprised of Objective type multiple choice questions.
- For every correct answer, 1 mark will be given and there is no negative marking at stage 1 and stage 2.
- Reserved category candidates have to secure 32% marks in each year to qualify the test, whereas general category candidates have to secure 40% marks to qualify the test.

How to Prepare for NTSE
Preparation Tips for NTSE
- Start your preparation with last year’s NTSE papers: Understand the type of questions asked and your current level of preparation. This will help you gain knowledge of NTSE and also give you a fair idea of your standing.
- Analyse your performance: Identify your strong points and weak links. This will help you plan your studies.
- Make a plan: Go through the subjects thoroughly. The allocation of time to each subject will depend upon your analysis of how weak or strong you are in a particular aspect.
- Practice, practice and practice: Get exposed to more questions of mental ability. Solve more papers and then analyse each one in detail. Take the help of your peers. Practice and get confident of your speed, subject knowledge and accuracy.

NTSE 2019 Result
- Those students who have successfully qualified the test are eligible for scholarship.
- Students will be selected for the scholarship on the basis of the final merit list.
- Once the stage 2 result will be announced, the final merit list will be prepared accordingly.
- The merit list will published on the website. It will not be sent through post.
- To check the examination result, students can visit the official website of NCERT i.e. www.ncert.nic.in.
- Students have to enter their Registration number and Date of Birth to check the result.
- The result will be available in PDF file format.
- Visit the official website of state government/ union Territories.

- After clicking on the link, students will be redirected to next page.
- Enter the required details i.e. Roll number, date of birth
- Click on the submit button.
- NTSE Result will be displayed on the screen.
- Download the same for future reference.
NTSE 2019 Cut off
Cut off marks are the minimum marks that are required by candidate to clear the examination. The cut off marks will be declared by the respective states. The final cut off mark will be declared by NCERT after the completion of stage 2 examination. NCERT publishes category wise and subject wise cut off marks.
